Love Lives, Oh So Many Things To Do

Dear World Wide Web,

I am so scatter-brained. I want so many things all at once. I don’t know why I am this way, but I am. I want the world and I want it now, lol. The thing is, I need to do this. I have to to do all of it. I wouldn’t be able to function if I didn’t.

In no particular order:

DoSomething.org’s YAC - I need to help out as much as I can I am so inspired and amazed by each and every one of the incredible young individuals I have the honor of working with.
Choir Concert Solo Auditions - I’m not sure if I want to do it, there are soo many talented singers but I’ll give it a shot. Must practice Christmas songs
National History Day - I want to win. Lol, simple as that. Must rework the script a million times, contact like a billion people to ask for testimonials, tons of research…. oh, it has to be grand.
UIL One Act Play Auditions - Find and memorize at least three other monologues and practice them for ever. I want to be cast, I miss rehearsing already, lol.
Schoolwork - Busy-ness does not equal bad grades!
St. Joan of Arc Youth Ministry - Caroling in nursing homes, adopt a family for Christmas, children’s play, being there for all of my youth ministry members. I love them so much.
Drama Club - Plan the winter social, sell chocolates, promote the club, update the Facebook Group, do all secretary-related things.
Job - HUNT. HUNT. HUNT. Apply everywhere again. Get TX state ID.
SATs- Do the SAT Question of the Day and register and take the test as many times as possible.
Do Something Club - Ask Mr. Avila for Drama Club charter rules and rework them for Do Something Club. Harass administrators until it gets approved. Promote the living daylights out of it.
Student Council - Canned food drive. Toys for tots. Fundraiser. Figure out what exactly my duties as Parliamentarian are now that football season has ended.
ATLAS - Find out when the meetings are and go to them!
GSA - Go back to meetings, finally. Introduce them to many of the new organizations I’ve crossed paths with. Take the kid who just came out of the closet that friend asked me to help.
Scholarships - Apply to EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
College - Look into all of them.
Knots for Grace - Find more people to volunteer and come help make pillows and blankets for people at hospice.
Tumblr - Blog about all of it, lol.
My Guitar Jake Charlie - Play him because he has been horribly, horribly neglected.
LOVE LIVES - This is the main reason I made this blog today. The kids at YAC have inspired me to finally start up my non-profit, Love Lives. It’s for young people to show the world that they know that love lives. I plan on having projects that involve helping homeless shelters, illegal immigrants, animals, etc. The website will feature testimonials, PSA’s, blogs, advice columns, networking, and a specific topic i.e. Racism, Troop Relief Efforts, Animal Cruelty, that it will devote itself to every couple of months at a time. This is obviously a HUGE project and it will take tons of time to plan and get up and running. I anticipate launching it at least before I graduate. I knew that when I finally did this it would take time. The YAC showed me that the time is NOW. So that’s what I’m doing:D
Etc. Etc. - There’s Probably a lot more I want/need to do but for now this is all I can think of off the top of my head.

Does my life sound kind of crazy? Yea, it is, but I wouldn’t have it any other way:D I’m off to do a billion different things right now but you have taken a quick glance at a day in the life of a girl named Ruby Melody.

Conference Calls and Group IMs

Dear World Wide Web,

I am a part of DoSomething.org’s 2011-2012 YAC (Youth Advisory Council) and tonight was my very first conference call. It was absolutely fantastic and I talked quite a lot, as usual. During the call I suggested we make a YAC facebook group and a returning member was assigned to do it. I have been IMing tons of interesting and just all around awesome people known as my fellow YACers. I can’t wait to continue with the best organization and by far the one I’m proudest to be a part of:D

Dear World Wide Web,

Well, it’s not entirely my fault. I feel like I’m getting so behind at school… BECAUSE I AM!! I’ve been missing sooo much school lately, it’s horrendous, lol. I’ve just been getting so sick and then I get back and it’s like I have mountains of homework, it sucks. I should be at school today - the first day back from thanksgiving break - but I had a doctor’s appointment. I am going to fail….

Well no point thinking that way but hey, whatever. I’ve been thinking a lot about the Peace Corps and college and my future but it’s all very stressful. All I know is that I know absolutely nothing. I am completely enamored with the idea of my future prospects. I mean, I find the idea of college and such to be quite intoxicating. The problem is getting from now to the future….

Oh woe is me, lol. There, I have laid my problems of the future, not including the financial ones. Ugh, I don’t even want to think about those… This is quite a depressing topic…lol. What can I say? This has been a day in the life of a girl named Ruby Melody.

I Need to Say this to Someone

Dear World Wide Web,

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks since I’ve blogged last. The play is over; I got that lead and had a really good time. I did not get the part I wanted in the musical but I’ve been really busy working as a chorus member, it’s been enjoyable and rewarding. We open in a week and a half!!

BUT, that is not why I’m blogging. I’m blogging because I need to say something, I need to try and figure out what I’m going to do with my life after I graduate. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get into the school of my dreams or if I get in, would I even be able to afford it. I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do, it’s so stressful. I’m doing what I can to try to get into the best school possible but I still don’t know.

Now here’s the even bigger news. Throughout my entire college craziness another crazy thought popped into my head: I want to join the Peace Corps. Now, this may seem a bit crazy to just say I want to do it but it is plausible. I could do this, I could join the Peace Corps. I’ve been thinking about deferring school and joining right out of high school. I know that joining is something that I would not only enjoy, but never forget. I feel like I’d almost feel terrible if I didn’t do it. The more I think about it, the better the idea becomes.

I just don’t know, I want so much and 18 and graduation day are all coming a whole lot earlier than I imagined. I’m taking my SATs next semester and I’ve been applying for scholarships left and right. This Peace Corps thing seems like a good idea though. Like a good decision, but I’m still very interested in going to college as soon as possible. I’m going to get all the information I need and will try to reach some kind of decision somehow. I have already e-mailed a recruiter to get more information. I’ll see what happens…

I Painted My Nails Barbie Pink

Dear World Wide Web,

It’s been a while… lol. Well… this is awkward. Hey(: (I love how no one reads this so technically it’s like I just said hello to myself, lol) I grew up! It’s been one whole year hasn’t it? Wow. Well, it’s hard to look at who I used to be roughly 365 days ago and not be a tad bit embarrassed, I’m the kind of person that regrets what she did yesterday everyday. Just who I am I suppose, lol. Well things are a bit different.

I’m no longer in marching band:( It was just too expensive. I am actually in a lot of stuff now. I got the lead in the play Goodbye to the Clown. It’s a good role, I was not super excited about it at first because I’ve tried to shy away from the little girl image my entire time in theatre but that was exactly what this role called for, a little girl. I appreciate it a lot more now though. I’m excited(:

I’m doing the talent show again, kind of with my band. This isn’t the same one as last year, but the full band isn’t performing, so it’s not really my band. We’re called Dualcet, the word dulcet means pleasing to the ear or melodious. It’s pronounced duhl-sit but I thought it was pronounced dual-set, kind of like the Spanish word for candy, but I was wrong. We decided to keep the pronunciation that way anyway. It’s spelled Dualcet because dual - as in 2. The two important things about music is music and lyrics. We’re not doing an original this year:( We didn’t have time. We’re doing Ignorance by Paramore, which I was reluctant about because I hate that we’re being so cliché but our version is not the original, we’re making it just original piano and guitar part with me on vocals. It’ll be different, maybe.

I auditioned for the school musical, Aida, Monday. I got a call-back and went Thursday. Getting a call-back meant that I was in the show but I was being considered for a lead, I was very excited. It was hard though, and the other girls at call-backs were incredible singers. I’m not totally confident that I will get the role that I want (Not Aida, I don’t sing like her, lol) but I suppose I’ll be happy anyway because all the other girls there are super talented and I love them all and I’m lucky just being in a show with them. Cast list goes up Monday, this is the longest weekend ever but, I’ll let you know…

So I posted my pink nails. I’ve basically been painting my nails differently every week, this week they’re barbie pink. I was just bored so I took off the crimson red I had and put a different one on, I think I’ll do green or something next week, idk. This is one of my only times off, I’ll do what I want, lol. Well I’ll talk about that at a later date. Bye(:

That was utterly ridiculous. Not to get into any specifics, but, yea. Stupid. It wasn’t entirely my fault, my ‘friend’ is actually a jerk, but it’s whatever. Maybe, I’m just mad right now. The kidd’s not really a jerk, I think. I can get over it, just need to cool off Iguess.

I’m really excited about the extremely possible White Rabbit gig we might have in two weeks, my band I mean. Still nameless. I’m really excited to perform. Songs are coming out nicely. So, yea.

Idk, I really need to get the right perspective on things, when did my friendship become like my family? That was the meanest thing someone, other then my sisters, has ever said to me. Everything I did seemed to make things worse. Like I was all wrong when we both were and we were both mad. Feels like my family. That’s what I like about my friends, they aren’t like my family. I didn’t cry because of what was said, I cried because it felt like my family. Being able to talk to someone was what was keeping me from going insane and now talking is driving me insane, idk. Tired of talking and thinking about this kidd. I’m out. This is just another day in the life of a girl named Ruby.

Movie Review Time!

Twilight Saga: Eclipse YAY or ~~NAY~~

Listen up, I’m not exactly a ‘Twi-hard’. I enjoy the movies but they are not my obsession. Eclipse is enjoyable. It has a comedy(-ish, well, it’ll make you laugh from time to time), romance, fantasty (hello, vampires and werewolves, not exactly real-life characters) and my personal favorite…ACTION! This movie would be good for anyone. Well, maybe not little kidds, they do have a conversation about sex and some of those romantic scenes that I personally think should be banned from all forms of televison and movies (it’s not bad, I just hate P.D.A., lol). Well yea, the factor that really put this movie over-the-top on my list was it’s action. There is a lot of vampire vs. vampire, and vampire vs. werewolf action scenes. They were pretty awesome and made this my favorite Twilight movie so far.

This summer has been…interesting. I’ve been doing a lot of cleaning, band rehearsals, and procrastination. I have a big assignment due on the first day of school, yay AP Classes. I am soo bored. I need…excitement, geez, idk.

In other news, the craziest thing happened to me today. My sisters, Esmeralda and Brigette, were watching the music video for When I Look At You by Miley Cyrus. Then, they proceeded to watch people covering the songs. Brigette went to change in her room really quick. Esmeralda changed it to the karaoke version of that song and I started to sing it. Brigette came out and freaked out. She thought it was another one of the covers and began complimenting me. I really don’t understand this. I’ve always sang in front of Brigette, a lot actually. She’s always told me to shut up or be quiet. Iguess it took her not knowing it was me to actually listen. I disagree with her though, I can’t sing. I may not be horrible but I know I’m not good.

My band really needs to figure out a name. I have this theory that Paramore took the words ‘for love’, wrote them down in Spanish, and ‘Americanized’ them, lol. I mean ‘for love’ means ‘para amor’ in spanish. Just put them together and add the ‘e’ and you get Paramore. I’m not sure how much truth there is to this theory but, yea. So I decided to do something like that. I got two names, The Malvidae and Amordio. They mean ‘the bad life’ and ‘love hate’ except in ‘Spanish Americanized’ version, lol. The Malvidae, is ‘mal vida’, or ‘bad life’. Amordio, is ‘amor odio’ I just took off the first ‘o’ in ‘odio’. I really need to think of other names, or something. Geez, I haven’t the faintest idea (Alice in Wonderland reference, lol).

Goodness gracious, I’m really bored. Well, I can’t wait for Hannah Montana Forever’s premiere episode, I love that show. It’s one of those things you hate yourself for loving. Although, I must admit, I am fonder of its earlier episodes. Well, I guess I’m off. This is just another day in the life of a girl named Ruby.

Dear World Wide Web,
    I don’t get this. I try to write in blogs all the time, but it never works. Let’s hope this time around, I’ll do better. I guess it’s the same thing that happened when I would try to have a diary, I would write in it once or twice, then soon, it would be gone. Online diaries are different, right?
    So, I’m in a band, currently untitled but thriving, I hope. Lol. I am, surprisingly enough, the lead singer of my band. I am the only girl amongst three boys, which I’m kind of glad for. I grew up the youngest of five girls, so there is way to much girls in my life, lol. The mom of our drummer, Albert, is old friends with a producer. She recently met up with him during her high school reunion. Upon mentioning us he became intrigued resulting in a deal of sorts.This producer said to call him once we have 20 minutes of music and he’ll try and book us. We have 21 minutes of music but about half of that does not have lyrics yet. That’s where I come in, I write the lyrics along with our guitarist, Izzy. We are very excited and are having long practices, although not all of the time are we very productive. We have fun. Our bassist, Francisco, seems to always have the most fun. He seems to always be in his own little world no matter how tense or frustrating our situation is, he’ll break out with the bass part of a metallica song or Santeria by Sublime. I’m not sure what’s going to happen but I guess I’ll see how it goes.
    Now, my day. I decided to look for a good hair cut for me. I decided I should start with what the shape of my face was. I always thought I had a heart-shaped face but I wasn’t to sure. After extensive research I found that I have a diamond-shaped face. This computer time was as boring and frustrating as it was lengthy. I think I might have found a good hair cut though.
